FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Renovo Physical Therapy and Wellness

DO I NEED A DOCTOR'S REFERRAL?

In the state of Colorado you do not need a doctor's referral prior to seeing a physical therapist.  Come on in!

CAN I USE MY HSA OR FSA FUNDS?

Definitely!

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY FIRST VISIT?

At an initial visit, you can expect your therapist to get a thorough understanding of what your symptoms are along with your unique history and goals. From there, your therapist will perform a comprehensive physical assessment, including objective measurements and assessing functional movements and activities involved with your symptoms and/or limitations. Together, you and your therapist will create a customized plan that supports your specific goals, guiding you every step of the way to a faster recovery.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear clothing you can move freely and comfortably in, or what you would workout in.

  • If you are coming in for lower body symptoms,
it is best to have shorts available.

  • If you are coming in for shoulder or neck-related symptoms, we encourage women to wear a sports bra or a top that exposes the shoulder blade area.

WHAT DOES A PELVIC FLOOR EVALUATION LOOK LIKE?

Depending on your symptoms and needs, the evaluation of your pelvic floor can look different. Sometimes the exam includes an internal assessment, but not always, and this is ALWAYS optional. The pelvic floor can be evaluated both externally and internally. An internal assessment includes a visual exam of the genital area and the use of one gloved and lubricated finger gently inserted into the vagina to assess the integrity of your muscles and tissues, strength, endurance, speed and control of your pelvic floor muscles. This is done in a private treatment room with sheets for draping, similar to an OBGYN visit.

Your doctor will explain all options prior to starting the evaluation. Your consent for any part of the evaluation is required!

WHAT TYPES OF HEALTH INSURANCE DO YOU ACCEPT?

Renovo Physical Therapy and Wellness is a fee-for-service practice, which means we do not bill insurance directly.

If requested, we can provide you with a super-bill which you can submit to your insurance for any available out-of-network benefits/reimbursement.

WHY DON'T YOU TAKE MY INSURANCE?

At Renovo, we believe you deserve personalized, one-on-one care that meets your unique needs and goals.

Typically, insurance dictates your treatment, with most in-network physical therapy clinics needing to treat multiple patients at once, shorten treatment time, and/or deny many performance-based treatments—all to be profitable due to current insurance reimbursement rates.

Being out-of-network allows us to provide a full hour of individualized, one-on-one care that meets your unique needs and goals. We are able to provide the care that’s truly best for you, without insurance dictating our approach at every step. With more dedicated time, comprehensive treatment and therapy geared towards empowering patients to take ownership of their care, clients are able to reach their goals in less time, with less visits.

We are happy to provide you with a super-bill, which will allow you to easily submit proof of your appointment to your insurance for out-of-network reimbursement.

CAN I BILL MY INSURANCE FOR REIMBURSEMENT?

This depends on your specific insurance plan, but YES, most non-Medicare patients can submit “self-claims” to their insurance company for treatments received at our clinic. We recommend contacting your insurance provider to learn about their process for self-claim submissions and to understand the reimbursement you may receive.
